This work captures the colours and feelings of gazing through a window, and out onto the road and green hills that unfold into the distance. I see the supple shades of flower petals close to glass, the many tones of cloud and blue of sky, and the tiny rocks of dust and road beyond.
The intersecting squares are like openings in time and place. Some ruptures are larger than others, full with thoughts of sky and clouds that move, and love for one, and another. I think of the fragments of feeling from the countless moments we hold as we look out into the world.
Rose: the past tense of the word rise that describes an upward movement or increase in value; a tone of red; a fragrant and beautiful flower.
Windows allow the light to enter while being the barrier that protects us from unwanted weather, and at times, from one another.
Rose Windows found in gothic places of worship are usually circular, made with stained glass, and divided into segments that separate each sliver of light.
Sky: on earth, all that is above the land and things we build.
Road: the path we tread from one place to another.
Rose Windows Sky and Road was published on the first day of November, a day celebrated as a feast of rememberings, as attention moves from the physical to the spirit sphere.
