Turn Away

Art and ambiguity often go hand in hand.

It is difficult to make out the figures in this work, but I see several people. One has their head bowed in thought, another turns away with stern control, and yet another looks on as if observing the whole scene. You may see yet more, or you may see none at all. It takes time and effort to uncover any mystery.

The colours, at least for me, have a controlled, reserved quality. The shadows allude to the folds of formal ware, and the layers remind me of the impenetrable facade we so often present to the world.
